A Chester le Street hair salon is going for growth just six months after a former Durham Business Club apprentice started in business.
Daniel Bewley, 26, started Athenea: Hair by Daniel John – John being his middle name – after an eight year career managing Browns’ hair salon in the town.
Daniel who lives in nearby Ushaw Moor quickly attracted many loyal customers to the salon which is based at Woodstone village, near Fencehouses, and currently has a staff of four stylists.
Now the former Durham Business Club apprentice, who is hoping to take on more staff, is looking to his former hairdressing tutors to help him find star hair stylists of the future to work at the salon.
Daniel explained: “I had a really good experience training with Durham Business Club so they were my first point of contact after I decided to take on more staff. We’ve had a successful and busy time since starting up the business and I think the time is right now to expand by recruiting a first class former apprentice.”
Susan Matthews, work-based learning director at Durham Business Club, said: “We have lots of excellent apprentices on our courses who are just so hard-working and good at what they do, so it’s always difficult to choose just one. Daniel was an excellent apprentice and he is I am sure a first-rate employer.”
The salon also offers spray tanning and a variety of beauty treatments and holistic therapies.
