Sophia Barbaro has achieved her leve 2 and 3 in hairdressing.Hairdressing is a fashionable, creative and exciting industry. You will meet new people and need plenty of energy and enthusiasm to succeed in this fast moving profession. Why not come along to our taster days to get advice and see if hairdressing is for you?

 

Your training will take place in a local salon and you will have day release at our training salon in Chester le Street. You will have a structured training plan with targets suitable to your pace and level of ability. An exciting mix of practical and theory skills will give you the opportunity to work on "real clients". You will be encouraged to take part in competitions and to develop your creative skills.

 

The salon you will be working in will assist with your training and will help you to develop your hairdressing and communication skills by meeting clients.

 

As you progress with your apprenticeship, your assessor will keep track of your progress and ensure you stay on target to complete your apprenticeship in the timescale suited to you.

 

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Formal qualifications are not required for this apprenticeship. However, practical skills and the ability to communicate with people are important to be a successful stylist.

 

A hairdressing apprenticeship is hard work and we expect dedication, commitment, good attendance and time keeping.

 

You will work towards the following qualifications:

 

 

APPRENTICESHIPS

You will learn how to style, colour and finish hair, how to promote products and services, progressing onto the latest cutting techniques. Reception duties, providing scalp massage and advising and consulting clients, are all skills you will develop.

 

To enhance your skills for life, you will improve your numeracy and communication skills to achieve Level 1 qualifications.

 

Upon successful completion and providing you have enthusiasm and the right skills. You will have the opportunity to progress to an advanced apprenticeship.

 

 

ADVANCED APPRENTICESHIPS

Enhancing your hairdressing skills to advanced level will enable you to achieve a variety of creative looks, colour hair using a variety of techniques and provide client consultations. You will also learn a combination of cutting techniques. There are many optional units you can select from at advanced level and our tutors will discuss these with you.

 

You will also develop an understanding of Employment Rights and Responsibilities and by the end of your training, you will have the skills to be an excellent hairdresser.

NVQ level 2 & 3 in Barbering

Salon Management level 4

Higher National Certificate/Diploma (HNC/D) Hairdressing and Salon Management

Foundation Degree Hairdressing Salon Management

BSc (Honours) Salon Management.
