Top tips for business success in 2008!
Not set your New Year’s resolutions yet? Here’s some we’ve prepared to make 2008 your best year ever.
Learn how to delegate and do more of it.
Step back from your business for a moment and look at what you can realistically delegate either to one of your employees or to an external consultant or service provider. Time is money and delegating more might be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make.
Promote your business regularly and consistently.
f you want to attract new customers, you have to make promotion a priority. Create a marketing plan and follow it through or make a resolution to hire a PR or marketing expert.
Make business planning a weekly event.
Planning is vital if you want a healthy, growing business. Business planning lets you take stock of what worked and what didn't work, and helps you set new directions or adjust old goals. Not only will this help you avoid costly mistakes and stay on track, but you'll feel more focused and relaxed.
Learn something new.
Learning something new will add to your skills and you may meet new and interesting people, who may become customers, colleagues, or friends.
Join a business organisation or networking group.
This is one of the best ways to make new contacts, gain new business and increase awareness of your products or services. So if you haven’t already joined Durham Business Club, get your skates on!
Give something back to your community.
Make a New Year's resolution to find a cause that matters to you, and give what you can. Make this the year that you serve on a committee, be a mentor or volunteer. Many of our members work in charities or support groups that would be delighted to speak to you.
Put time for you on your calendar.
All work and no play is a recipe for mental and physical disaster. If you won't invest in yourself, who will? So remember to schedule some time for you in your daily schedule.
Set realistic goals.
Set goals that are achievable, rather than unrealistic pipe dreams that can only lead to frustration. Start by making a list of what you’d like to achieve this year and consider what’s realistic.
Finally, good luck!
