Business Administration

This Apprenticeship provides you with excellent office-based skills in a broad variety of units to match your employment, giving you the grounding for any type of business role in any type of industry.

 

You will be employed during your apprenticeship and have regular day release (normally one day each month) to build your portfolio and access tutor support at our centre in Chester le Street.

 

Your work will include a range of office activities which will enable you to select units of the qualification relevant to your role, for example, dealing with visitors and reception duties, use of IT for word processing, managing diary systems and use of telephone systems.

 

A person with good administration skills forms the backbone of any business. If you are well organised and like to work in a structured way, then this may be a good opportunity for you to progress and develop your skills.

Entry requirements

Employers requirements vary with regards to the entry qualifications they require suitable apprentices to have. However, we do not stipulate specific entry requirements and match you with employers based on your level of ability and prior qualifications. Employers look for signs of commitment and enthusiasm.

 

Apprenticeships (NVQ level 2 )

There are many optional units you can select from based on your job role. These include: dealing with visitors, managing customer relations and diary systems, storing & researching information, using a variety of IT and telephone systems and operating office equipment. The tutor will discuss these with you and help you to select units relevant to your role in the business.

 

To enhance your skills for life, if necessary you will improve on your numeracy and communication skills.

Technical Certificate Level 2:

During your apprenticeship, you will also work towards this additional qualification.  With includes teaching on the Business Administration Technical Certificates and a short test to ensure you have the required knowledge and understanding of the subject.

 

Text processing Level 2:

This qualification enhances your word processing skills and key boarding skills.  This gives you a skill employers say is a real benefit to their business.

 

Upon successful completion of your Apprenticeship your new skills can be used across a wide range of organisations and are transferred easily between different companies. You may wish to progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship.

 

Advanced Apprenticeships ( NVQ level 3 )

This Advanced Apprenticeship is suitable if you work at an advanced level in an office environment for example as an Administrator, Co-ordinator, Team leader, Supervisor, of assistant manager.  Our tutors will provide you with guidance on the units you may select relevant to your job role.

 

For example: Supervise an office facility, use IT to exchange information, plan and implement innovation and change, monitor information systems, research, analyse and report information, make a presentation, manage and evaluate customer relations, design and produce documents. Plus many more units you can choose from.

 

Technical Certificate level 3:

During your advanced apprenticeship, you will also work towards this additional qualification.  With includes teaching on the Business Administration level 3 Technical Certificate and a short test to ensure you have the required knowledge and understanding of the subject.

 

Progression routes

Following completion of the Advanced Apprenticeship, your skills can be applied across a wide range of organizations and you can take your professional development to the next level, for example: into management, customer service or IT related qualifications.
