What are Diplomas

Diplomas provide an alternative to traditional learning and are the biggest change to the countries educational system since the introduction of GCSE’s. Dipomas have been introduced to increase the employability and further education opportunities for 14-19 year olds.

Through the combination of theoretical study and practical learning. Diplomas will equip young people with the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to succeed.

From September 2010 we will be offering the principal learning in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy at level 1 and level 2.

Level 1 Principal Learning includes:

• Introducing the hair & beauty sector
• Creating a positive impression in the hair and beauty sector
• Introducing hair styling
• Introducing basic skin care treatments
• Personal appearance, styling and wellbeing
• Careers in hair and beauty sector and related industries

Level 2 Principal Learning includes:

• Safe and health working practices in the hair and beauty sector and related industries
• The world of hair and beauty
• The science of hair and beauty
• Communication and client care in the hair and beauty sector
• History of hair and beauty in society
• Promoting and selling products and services by professional recommendation in the hair and beauty sector
• Salon business systems and processes
• Exploring skin care and make up
• Exploring hair care and styling
• Exploring hand care and nail art
